I first met Petra when she showed up at my door looking for work, almost nine months so. I gave her food in exchange for work. She’s come a few times looking for work. Last week she showed up and told me the story of her special needs son. He was so hungry that he was crying all night and biting himself and pinching others. I had her work in the garden in exchange for food. She has come back every day this week and worked so hard. By the third days she told me he is no longer biting himself. He’s satisfied with food. After talking with our team we will enroll her in the program. We are excited to see what God is going to do in the new year. She is smart and has a good sense of business. She currently walks throughout the village daily looking for any kind of work When we asked her goals for 2022 she would like to earn capital to start a business. She has three children, one with special needs. We will try to see if we can find a program for him. Please pray that God will open doors for her and her son in the coming year. It would be so awesome to see him in an environment where he can thrive. This is Petra’s home. She keeps it very clean and she takes pride in what she has. She told us that they have come to try to tear it down, saying it is rubbish among the new homes. She pleaded with the local government to let her stay and they gave her time to build a new home. Of course this is impossible for her now so we pray God will continue to allow her to stay.
